Bay Area Meetup - Ocean Beach Bonfire

Come see the sunset, warm yourselves in front of the fire, and meet up with old and new Feabie friends on Sunday, May 14 from 4:30-9:30 pm in San Francisco's Ocean Beach. This is a bonfire potluck, so bring drinks and food to share or cook in the fire. We'll also need firewood. Please comment on the event page listing what you intend to bring, so we can have a variety of noms. Wear layers and warm clothes. It's going to be cold! Bring blankets or beach chairs. If you forget to bring food or firewood, there's a Safeway nearby at 850 La Playa St.

If you're planning to take MUNI, the N-Judah goes all the way to Ocean Beach. Exact location to be determined on the day of the event, but all bonfire rings are between Stairwells 15 and 20 (between Fulton and Lincoln on Great Highway). Look for the balloons and fat people! Make sure to check this page for the most up-to-date information. Everyone is welcome; however, if you plan on bringing a non-Feabie member, please leave a comment on the event page so we have an accurate headcount. If we reach 25 RSVPs, I'll need to get a bonfire permit. Please make a note that we eventually plan on having a pool party meetup. In order for you to be invited to that, you must have already attended a previous meetup, so join us!

Ocean Beach Rules:

1. Leave no trace. Respect the beach and keep it clean.

2. No glass containers or alcohol. But no one's stopping you from bringing water bottles filled with "water." Under 21? Please be responsible. The rangers do monitor the beach for rowdy behavior and you'll be carded if you're drinking.

3. All firewood must be untreated and unpainted. No pallets. No wood with nails, hardware, and paint. No charcoal or accelerants like lighter fluid. No scavenged wood from nearby beach/park. Fire must be extinguished by 9:30 pm with water only.

4. Ocean Beach parking lot closes at 10PM, so we need to be out before anyone gets ticketed.

6. Dogs are allowed on-leash or voice control.

Fire rings are on a first come, first served basis so we will not find out which one we can claim until May 14. All bonfire rings and the parking lot are between Stairwells 15 and 20 (between Fulton and Lincoln on Great Highway). Just look for the balloons and fat people. Hopefully, that'll make us easier to spot!
